Memories of Janet by Lindsey Lucas

Janet had an amazing capacity for love, friendship and adventure. She forged through life, always determined to enjoy it and this was true right up to the end. No matter what was happening in her life she always took an interest in those around her
and made time for them. When our Nan was ill she was her rock, and not just for
Nanny but for all the whole family. And that was Janet, always there to support and always with a smile!

Most of all she loved being part of a family and was simply a great aunt. It was lovely when she married Steve that her family extended and she even became a Granny.

She was a much beloved Aunty and this became even more so when I had children. I remember taking the girls to the park with her, feeding the ducks and sharing family Christmas get togethers. As the girls got older and Janet moved to Devon we often
visited her and Steve whilst we were camping. There was many a time that Janet and Steve welcomed us with a hot meal and a dryer to dry all our damp clothes.

Once when we visited and Steve had not returned home yet, Janet quickly got on the phone and threatened to cook us dinner unless he did so. All of us were very pleased when Steve turned up soon after and saved us that fate!

My girls have strong memories of Janet, and Steve and the love they shared. Their love for each other, travel and food. The fun they had at their wedding, their postcards and fridge magnets from their adventures, the meals we shared, and their beloved camper van.

Her uncompromising morning routine, nik naks from her world travels, the Ridley Faff factor are all things I will remember about her; but above all her generosity.
